The Genova-Figari Refuge lies between two lakes: the Brocan, a natural alpine lake and the man-made reservoir Chiotąs, one of the largest in Europe. It was presented to the Ligurian Genoa section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) in 1981 to replace the old hut which now lies under the reservoir. It is the meeting point of splendid natural surroundings and an impressive feat of human engineering.
Easily accessible, surrounded by meadows and two lakes, it lies beneath the faces rising to the peaks of Argentera. The south peak at 3300 m. is the highest in the range, and offers the chance to see a number of animals: ibex, chamois, marmots, ermine, golden eagles, and rare botanic species such as the Saxifraga florulenta. etc.

On the ground floor the Refuge has a restaurant with bar annexed. Typical piedmontese, provenēale and vegetarian dishes are served. Amongst the most popular dishes is polenta served with a variety of sauces. The bedrooms are on the first floor they sleep two, three or four people. On the second floor there are two ten bed dormitories and a room with eight beds. Bathrooms and showers are on the ground and first floors.

Hikers, climbers and families can relax or have fun climbing on the training crag or the nearby bolted routes; walk to other refuges or try their hands on the climbs of various difficulties on the faces around the refuge.

The refuge is open non-stop from the 15th of June to the 15th of September, booking is necessary for other periods and week-ends.
